With more money beginning to enter cricket for the use of upgrading facilities it is important not to miss out on receiving this information. Junior cricket is beginning to take its toll on squares and outfields so whether you are a groundsman or a committee representative, join now and be involved. There’s more to pitch preparation than turning up on a Friday afternoon, cutting out a strip and marking some lines!!

The Surrey Officials Adviser has been in place for 4 years and the role is designed to help with the promotion and training of umpiring and scoring in the county through the delivery of introductory type clinics.
The aims of the clinics are to educate and enthuse people whilst helping to promote the art of umpiring and scoring. The content of the clinics vary depending on the organising body, which can be a cricket club, a group of clubs in a geographical area, a colt’s league or even a senior league. Generally the major laws are covered like LBW and No Balls along with signalling and some field craft. Scoring sessions can touch upon score sheet entry, which is enhanced by the use of technology whereby the audience score a 5 over section of a match being shown on a screen.
Attendees at previous courses have gained the enthusiasm to enrol onto recognised umpiring and scoring courses and achieve relevant qualifications. Others have simply offered their services on a regular basis to their club, school etc
The clinics generally last up to 3 hours and are normally held on weekday evenings. There is a cost per clinic, which is around £20 per hour.
If you are interested in booking up the services of the Officials Adviser who is Graham Cooper then please contact me Chris Bullen by email on cbullen@surreycricket.com
DON’T MISS OUT on this wonderful opportunity to help promote these two essentials roles of cricket, educate your players and train up the next generation.
